Home Events Hollowell - 22nd August

Our event at Hollowell was to be the second Seavets excursion there, but the first for Peter and me. We arrived on Friday evening and set up the van right by the water - what a beautiful view. In due course Mike Playle appeared and very kindly opened the bar for us to try out a fresh barrel of the local brew.

Mike PlayleNext morning 16 signed on for racing. The sun shone but it was clear that we were in for a flukey wind, altogether typical for a lake like this - reminds me of my early days windsurfing on Bray Lake. As was to be expected, Mike Playle proved to be unbeatable on his home territory, Graham Inkley also felt at home and came 2nd in every race, followed 3 times out of four by Tony Chandler.

The wind came and went and came again, sometimes from a completely different direction, so the tactics were 'interesting'. In the afternoon a few dinghies joined in for their regular Saturday afternoon club racing, starting separately but sailing the same course and inevitably getting mixed up with the windsurfers. Everybody behaved themselves and it was all most amicable.
