research project. Read it here..........
Research into Ageing (registered charity No 277468)
is a special trust within Help the Aged. It was founded
in 1976 and funds research into the most common illnesses
affecting older people, including mobility, dementia,
bone disease, wound healing, stroke and heart disease. It
is dedicated to promoting good health in later life
by preventing the major causes of disability in old
age and improving the treatments available. The charity
also encourages other funding bodies to look on ageing
research as a priority.
Research into Ageing's mission is to raise funds to:
support appropriate medical and scientific research
projects.
foster the education and training of scientists,
medical practitioners and others working in the field.
raise awareness of the potential of research and
disseminate its results to the public and all interested
professionals
Fitter and stronger for longer.
"Good health is vital for older people to
live active, involved and fulfilled lives. Research
into Ageing has a unique focus. We fund high quality
research into the most common health problems affecting
older people, including dementia, bone disease, would
healing, stroke and circulatory problems. We also work
with researchers and healthcare professionals to boost
awareness of the potential of research to improve the
quality of later life."
Making a difference.
"We believe that disease and disability are
not inevitable as we get older. Research will improve
understanding of how and why conditions develop and
help to identify the best ways to stop or treat health
problems that can erode older people's independence
and dignity."
Healthy ageing for active lives
"We're also very grateful to the Seavets,
the Senior and Veteran Windsurfers Association, who
live life to the full and regularly raise thousands
of pounds for Research into Ageing. Congratulations
on your 20th year and enormous thanks for the £54,000
you have raised for research during that time."
