Although Barnt Green is on the outskirts of Birmingham, the beautiful green fields and woods surrounding Upper Bittell Reservoir give no inkling of the city which lies just over the horizon. The club house is always very welcoming, especially on cold days when an open fire blazes away in the clubroom, there is a bar and light catering for the hungry and thirsty - AND the natives are very friendly! (This is one of my favourite locations, as you can see!)
Racing is always entertaining; the Race Officer usually feels it his duty to give everyone a sound knowledge of all corners of the lake and to use as many of the numerous buoys as possible during the day. Competitors tend to depart with indelible, but not necessarily decipherable maps drawn on the backs of both hands.
To
find Upper Bittell Reservoir, leave the M42 at Junction 2, head north
and turn left at the first roundabout. At the next roundabout turn right.
From Kendall End Road in Barnt Green, turn right down Copton Church Lane
to the club.
