Only 3 takers for our latest ride Richard Williams, Russ Canning and John Ellis who met at the Ely pub on the A30
We had a very short ride to the nearby grounds of Minley Manor where we attempted some of the extensive MTB course that we have previously managed to miss. This was a bit challenging with a variety of different radius turns, gradients and obstacles which was cut a bit short when Russ got a rear puncture which was soon sorted by a can of gooey stuff which partially inflated the tyre and plugged the leak.
We then decided to continue on easier terrain and after a brief discussion we headed down hill crossed the M3 and made our way to Fleet pond. During a circumnavigation of the pond we managed to identify the path which will take us to the Basingstoke canal which is now noted for a future ride. Our route back was one we had previously used that takes us under and over the busy roads making up the M3 J4a and onto Hawley common and past Hawley lake.
We then rode around Hawley common until we found the track to the rear of Gibraltar barracks which took us back close to our start and a short ride to the pub. With good food and reasonable prices the 3 of us agreed it was an ideal end to a good ride of about 14 miles.
