New to Racing? For an informal introduction to racing, a small group meet regularly at Datchet Water midweek for 'fun' racing around the fixed buoys there. More details from Richard Williams. If you are interested in starting to race in the Seavets series then read this guide.
Not interested in Racing? Check out our Social Sailing and Cruising activities.
We plan to hold regular races on Thursdays at Farmoor, courtesy of Oxford Sailing Club. The format will be gate starts and we will try self-reporting of results. We will set courses using the 10 fixed buoys which allow for lots of flexibility depending on the wind direction.
Our first date of 29th April is a “wet run” when we will see how it goes. Briefing at 1030, first race at 1100, 2 races before lunch and 2 after.
The proposed dates below are subject to confirmation by OSC but please pencil into your diaries for now Thursdays:
29th April (definite!)
For 27th May onwards there will be a nominal £5 charge. If you are a Seavet but not a Farmoor club member we can arrange for you to come as a guest - please let me know in advance.
There is an excellent café serving a full range of food and drinks. At the moment parking is free but is expected to change at some point.

Racing with the LWA
In addition, the LWA is running a full programme and has introduced a 7.8m class this year. The first event at Fisher Green on 17th April attracted 8 Seavets to sail in the fleet of 18 entrants. You can find details of their series on their website. Entry fees are £20 and you can prebook and pay online in advance or turn up and pay on the day. Third party insurance is needed (as it is for Seavets events) and a recognisable sail number.
