South Coast Social Sailing
A Seavets group meets to windsurf roughly once a week on the south coast from April to October or November, subject to suitable wind and tides. The main object of the group is to go sailing with like minded people when the wind blows in the apropriate location.
We choose safe locations (Mudeford, Calshot, Poole) as we have no rescue cover, but of course we keep an eye on each other while sailing.
As in 2018 we are not planning on a fixed schedule of dates and locations as we have previously. Too often the wind is not suitable, and it would be useful to be flexible about which day of the week we sail. So, whenever anyone within the group decides the time is right to go windsurfing they inform the rest of the group either on the Facebook group page or via email, and hope that they will have company on the day.
Some of the venues that we have used for many years for our racing events are also ideally suited to our non-racing members. So the weekends at Whitwell (Rutland Water) and Carsington are now for both racing and social sailing. Both of these offer extensive waters, and our custom has always been to have a meal together on the Saturday evening. Camping is available on site at Whitwell.
Another venue suitable for our social sailors is Brogborough, the only one of all the locations which Seavets visit which is solely for windsurfers - no dinghies or canoes to get in our way!
The Quiberon peninsula, on the south coast of Brittany, has been a popular holiday destination for Seavets for many years.See more details here.
