Surprisingly uneventful

Last Wednesday eleven of us assembled in the car park of the Palmers Arms in Dorney for what is now the traditional Xmas bike ride. A couple were held up by a traffic jam on the M40, so the bulk of the party set off and we regrouped on Eton Bridge for the mulled wine and mince pies provided by Richard. It was a mild and sunny day although the wind was funnelled along the Thame proved a little chilly. Onwards then via Boveney and Dorney Lake to Bray Lake for coffee where we were lucky to catch Simon Frost with his other half (and a dog). Simon is pretty well retired now and is spending most of his time on Cornwall restoring a house there. The conditions were perfect for raceboards with sun and wind from the SW - unlike the last two recent windless visits with the LWA. Refreshed we had time to take the longer rout back over the M4 and the Thames to return to the start via the Jubilee Channel. A good lunch and then off to home with the sun setting in the west. Manyt thanks to Richard for organising.
