Spring sunshine 10 April

A beautiful spring day at Farmoor saw 7 Seavets rig up to race with non sailing guest appearances from Andy, Kerry, Nick Rose and Tony Goodwin. The forecast 5mph NE proved accurate and there were enough ripples to set a course and managed to get out to start the racing at about 1045. The plan was to complete 3 races before lunch then review the situation for the afternoon. After a false start on the first race we managed to get the three races in, although the second race was surprisingly shortened to one lap and the third race was stopped at a lap and a half. Ady had a technical in the first race which meant he lost out overall to light wind specialist Russ who won the first two races. Richard sailed a very steady 3 races taking two seconds and a third. Mike Brace had a promising start on his new VG7 courtesy of Dave Gilchrist. Lunchtime saw the wind fade with the number of calm spots growing, so with no great enthusiasm to get out again we called it a day. Overall an enjoyable and sociable day at the pond.
