High tide at Burghfield - 16th March

Saturday saw the first event of season, joint with the LWA, hosted by Burghfield. As our Race Offcer Tony Chandler said, the tide was in with the lake 4 feet above its normal level. This meant that large parts of the boast park including Tony's trailer were under water. On the plus side many of the Burghfield shallow areas were that no longer.

Four Seavets signed on (see above) with two more in the main fleet of 12, Rod Davis and Kerry Hastings. The wind duly arrived in time and as forecast was light but reasonably steady, so although the racing was not overly exciting, for most of us as a first outing this year it was a good opportunity to stretch some unused muscles.

Richard sailed well score four firsts to take top spot. It was good to welcome Mike Brace back to the UK but he was somewhat hampered by lack of a decent sail (see separate post).

Overall a good and enjoyable start to 2024 racing. If you go to the LWA facebook page there are some photos of the event.
