Last race of the season at Farmoor

Updated: Sep 26

The race scheduled for 7th September was moved to yesterday because of the risk of heatstroke in 32 deg and lack of wind. Yesterday on the way to Farmoor there were temperatures below 10 deg and thick mist in the Thames Valley and still no wind on arrival. Fortunately this changed with the wind around 9 or 10 mph and mostly from the SW but shifting significantly as large storm clouds passed by. Gentle racing during the mostly sunny morning was enjoyed by the six sailors there, with Andy, Ady and Richard doing a 1 -2 - 3 in each race. After lunch the course was adapted to the more southerly and slightly stronger wind. The final race was enlivened somewhat by a lengthy squall coming through with strong winds, very heavy rain and loud squealing from the school kids in the dinghy fleet. Only three completed the three laps in that race, but good to end the season with a bit of excitement.
